Tried out a new idea meal over the weekend...
Okay, so every once in a while I concoct some of the most amazing cheap ass bastard food. This weekend was one of those times.
So what you need:
campfire (of course, all my stuff requires a campfire)
dutch oven or something similar
pan to cook pasta
1 cup of macaroni (I used whole wheat, but whatever)
1/3 block of Velveeta cheese
1/2 cup of milk (I used skim)
1 can of diced tomatoes with jalapeņos
shredded cheese (however much you want)
pepper, salt, etc (to your taste)
turkey sausage (the half circle looking precooked stuff)
- Cook the macaroni according to instructions (boil for like 7mins?).
- Cut up the turkey sausage. I cut it into slices. Could do halves. Whatever.
- Cut the Velveeta cheese into cubes.
- Dump everything, including the cooked pasta, into whatever you're cooking it in. Stir. Cook 20 minutes or so with the dutch oven or whatever in the coals of the fire. Keep checking. Depending on the temps, it could take more or less time.
It tastes like baked mac and cheese. I plan on experimenting with this one adding more stuff. I'm thinking mac and cheese gumbo. Mmmm...
