Default GPS Windshield Suction Mount

I just bought an entry-level GPS and was going to try to figure out a way to mount it to the wee. I have seen all kinds of mounting contraptions on this forum, but has anyone used the suction cup mount that comes with the GPS? I stuck it on the factory windshield, and it seemed to be very secure and just below the line of sight. I took a 40-mile ride last week with no problems. In addition, the suction cup provides a good amount of vibration dampening. The bike sat outside last night with the temperature in the teens, and the mount was still solid this morning. Looks like a winner to me, but I would hate to send the unit skidding across the asphalt. Has anyone else tried this?
