Default Heidenau K60 Tire Review

If you are looking for a 50/50 for the Strom look no further.
I installed a set of K60's in the spring both front and back.

I have put 10,000 km on them so far this season.
11mm tread depth at the start on the rear centre.
5.5 tread depth now.

6,500 km of that was fully loaded touring with camping gear on pavement.
1,500 km of that was loaded on the Trans Labrador Highway on gravel.
The remaining 2,000 was mixed riding on pavement loaded and gravel unloaded

I noticed no difference in rear traction on gravel from the TKC 80 that I had on prior. The front tire does not bight as well in gravel as the TKC. The K60 is still firm though in gravel and does not roll on loose gravel like a stock Battlewing.

The roll into a turn on pavement is noticeable smoother on the K60 compared to a TKC. The wet traction is good on the K60. I drove in a lot of wet conditions on my east coast trip. The strongest crosswinds in rain I have ever had along the NewFoundland west coast up and back to L'Ans Meadows. Total confidence in the tire.

The K60 front does give a little shimmy when crossing over a road snake line or parallel crack. The psi on the tire says 36. I ran the front at 27 and the rear at 30 on the Trans Lab. There was less float at those pressures than at 36 psi.

I expect at least another 3,000 km or more from the rear. The front as expected has not worn much. I found the side walls very stiff on the tires and had a hard time installing them myself. I ran them with Dyna beads for balancing as I do in all my tires. No uneven wear or cupping at all.

I will definitely be installing another rear for next season. I purchased direct through Moto Amore and shipped to the UPS store in Ogdensburg NY then drove down to pick them up and eliminate the Duty and Brokerage fees. Hopefully Dual Sport Plus will carry this tire next season and I will purchase from them.

This is a shot in the spring of the k60 - TKC - Battlewing for comparrison of the tread.

This is a shot of the tire after 10,000 km with 5.5 mm still on the centre. The blocks are still square edged unlike a TKC that will round off due to the wider gap between the blocks.
