I was riding my DL650 while I took the 40k mile DL650A front end apart in order to replace the steering head bearings. Also replaced both sprockets and chains, checked cush drive at rear wheel (OK), and I did the valve check and adjust (removed radiator to make my life easier). I swapped all my plastics and fuel tank between the two bikes. Since then I have rebuilt front and rear calipers (seals and pads), replaced clutch cable. Fitted a shelf to hold the RAM-system GPS mounting ball. Added Cogent cartridges to front forks and swapped springs. Replaced rear shock with an Elka ($$$$) shock. Also put on lowering links for the rear. Front ride height is stock. Replaced air filer, oil and oil filter. Replaced battery. Removed heated grips (1 not working) and removed (annoying) throttle lock.
It helps that I have a heated garage.
