Hi Dan, the F800ST puts out a high frequency buzz that is not really noticeable at first, but leaves my hands a bit numb after an hour or more of Interstate riding.
I believe that part of the issue, is that the F800ST riding position is more sporty than the DL650. You lean forward a bit more with some weight on your hands. The DL650 is a fully upright riding position for me, with no weight on my hands (I am 5'9") which is what I prefer.
The DL650 vibration is at a lower frequency, so I find it less intrusive. At secondary highway speeds, it is barely noticeable. At Interstate speeds, it is there, but I don't find it annoying. And no numb hands, or feet or butt.
I have done 500 mile Interstate days on my 09 DL650 with no complaints. I don't think that I would be able to do the same on the F800ST. I have not ridden a 2012 DL650, which uses the Gladius engine, so my comments are based on the '09 engine.
