Hey Mike. Sorry I didn't see the message. I did see the post though. I went on a ride yesterday with a BMW friend doing all the gravel we could around Dupont and Pisgah. Looking forward to hanging out with you and fellow strommers.

    Mike,

I've been thinking about you and Richard and the funeral all weekend. My FiL's memorial is still very fresh in my memory. That trip to Tampa was absolutely the right thing to do at the last possible moment. We are all so glad we did it.

15 years ago on July 12 a very good friend died. After his death, I realized that time shared with friends and family is the greatest gift of life. I vowed from then on to cherish that gift.

If your schedule is the same, I'd like to meet you early in Walhalla some monday morning for a ride. Tomorrow, however, won't be possible.

    Take Care,

    Norm

Thanks for the suggestions on two-up suspension settings Mike. I have a 2 day trip coming up with my son in a week, I'll try those out. I already had the rear preload maxed but I made the mistake of leaving my front preload firm the way I like it for solo riding, and I think you nailed it in your observation that this makes for alarming understeer.

    Mike,
Thr Triumph is a fun bike. It is plenty fast and handles well. It is not as comfortable as the strom for 500 mile days but is not a torture rack by any means. The triple is a fun motor. I'm considering getting a new Sprint or the Concours/FJR next year. I just picked up a beater 99 KLR and have been having a little dirt road fun with it. Quite the ugly, antiquated POS but very cheap and bulletproof. Anyhow, we're good here; the FC Owls have started their season so I take in a couple of games per week, the bride is on her way home from a Myrtle Beach trip with the girls, I haven't run my workplace into the ground as of today and Jake the mutant dog is being fed on a regular basis so it's all gravy. I take it that your riding time has been limited? Take care. Larry

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for the note..... I thought when I posted the thread that I'd stir some conversation about the joys or "NOT" of riding two-up..... for us, we get great joy riding together..... and I'm glad it's the same for the two of you....
    thanks again, Ken

I'll be mtg. him about 100 on Hwy 11 before we get to your neck of the woods. Call me if you want to ride friday afternoon or hook up with us on Saturday. 828 429 1155, I'll check messages at 100-130 on friday and then that night.

One more environmentally and socially responsible VStrom rider headed your way from Colorado. It would be nice to have some folks to ride with next spring and summer.
